History

Columbus Independent Baptist Church was originally called Landmark Baptist Church which began in 1965 in an old "jiffy curb" building on Morris Road. Pastor Sutton was the founding Pastor and was followed by Bro. Pritchett.

In October of 1968 the church began to establish itself as an important ministry in the Edgewood community in Columbus. Pastor Calvin R. Gray was called as Pastor. The name was changed to Columbus Independent Baptist Church. The late Bro. Gray was Pastor until he went home to be with the Lord on July 11, 2006. Bro. Gray established Edgewood Christian School which was a blessing to many in the community.

In July of 2008 the church extended a call to Dr. Keith A. Taylor, Sr to become the fourth Pastor of the church.
